About

Dyna Robotics Inc. (达纳灵动, with the Chinese entity Shanghai Dana Lingdong Technology Co., Ltd.) was founded in 2024 by three co-founders - Lindon Gao, York Yang and Jason Ma - and is headquartered in Redwood City, California, with a branch in Shanghai's Changning District. Its mission is to build robots that earn their place on any floor, and its stated goal is to decouple the physical economy from human hours by working the full stack of embodied AI from hardware to foundation models. The company's thesis is that customers pay for a role rather than a task, so its robots are built to take over whole end-to-end workflows - a self-contained business process that a person hands over and checks back on hours later - rather than individual stationary tasks that still need someone standing by. Dyna deliberately began in commercial settings such as restaurants, fitness centres, laundromats and hotels rather than in humanoid robotics, manufacturing or the home, on the reasoning that commercial work needs generalisation but not the extreme accuracy of a production line, and that revenue from those deployments funds the data flywheel. In April 2025 it released DYNA-1 (Dynamism v1), a self-developed vision-language-action model described as the first dexterous manipulation foundation model deployable in commercial settings and a single-weight general foundation model, meaning one fixed parameter set handles many tasks without per-task retraining; DYNA-1 folded napkins more than 900 times over 24 hours of fully autonomous operation at a 99.4 per cent success rate, and has been deployed folding napkins in restaurants, organising towels in gyms and sorting laundry in laundromats. In September 2025 the company announced a USD 120 million Series A at a USD 600 million post-money valuation, following a seed round of roughly USD 20 million, with strategic investors including NVIDIA, Amazon and Salesforce. Dyna-2, published in August 2026, extended the work to a million-hour scaling law for world-action models, and on 29 September 2026 the company introduced Dyna-2.1, a full-stack physical agent that autonomously completes hour-long, non-linear loco-dexterous manipulation workflows, together with Taku, its new semi-humanoid robot. Taku has a human-shaped body above the waist, a folding lower body, two 7-degree-of-freedom arms and a stable base on four steerable wheels, giving a 21-degree-of-freedom upper body plus a mobile base, and it is sized like an average person above the wheels so that human demonstrations transfer to it. The company reports commercial benchmarks including 200 units per hour in warehouse and fulfilment work with 2 mm placement accuracy, 22 minutes per hotel room from checkout to guest-ready at 97 per cent or better first-pass inspection, and 100 plated dishes per hour at under 40 seconds per plate in food service. Its published technology stack pairs a workflow orchestrator built on a vision-language model with the DYNA-2 world-action policy and an RL-trained whole-body controller developed in NVIDIA Isaac Sim, all sharing a Unified Robot Representation that is embodiment-agnostic and can describe a human, humanoid, semi-humanoid or tabletop bimanual robot in one format.

Development Timeline

2024
Founded by Lindon Gao, York Yang and Jason Ma, headquartered in Redwood City, California, with a branch in Shanghai's Changning District; the team deliberately chose commercial settings rather than humanoid robotics, manufacturing or the home as its first market.
2025
Released DYNA-1 (Dynamism v1), a self-developed vision-language-action model described as the first dexterous manipulation foundation model deployable in commercial settings; as a single-weight general foundation model it handles many tasks with one fixed parameter set, and it folded napkins more than 900 times across 24 hours of fully autonomous operation at a 99.4 per cent success rate.
2025
Announced a USD 120 million Series A at a USD 600 million post-money valuation, following a seed round of roughly USD 20 million; strategic investors in the early financing included NVIDIA, Amazon and Salesforce, and the company said the funds would further develop its AI models and deploy more robots.
2026
Published Dyna-2, extending the work to a one-million-hour scaling law for world-action models, and followed it with the product-focused release 'Not Just a Model, But a Product'.
2026
Introduced Dyna-2.1, a full-stack physical agent able to autonomously complete hour-long, non-linear loco-dexterous manipulation workflows, together with Taku, its new semi-humanoid robot with a human-shaped upper body, folding lower body, two 7-DoF arms and four steerable wheels; the company states it is the first physical agent to perform such hour-long non-linear workflows.
