About

Futuring Robot (Chinese brand 未来不远, legal entity Shanghai Futuring Robot Technology Co., Ltd.) is a Shanghai-based home general-purpose robotics company founded in September 2022 by Zhang Yi, the former founder and CEO of NYSE-listed Zhangmen Education. After the 2021 tutoring-industry shutdown, Zhang Yi concluded that large models would act as a scheduling layer that could orchestrate physical tasks, and chose the hardest and least-contested application: the home. The company ran for its first three years without external funding, with Zhang Yi investing more than RMB 100 million of his own money, and iterated through 16 generations of hardware while holding a consumer price target and driving cost down from the industry's hundreds of thousands of RMB to roughly RMB 20,000-30,000, offered to households at around RMB 3,000 on a rental basis. Its stack is built on a self-developed AVLA end-to-end vision-action model that decomposes long tasks into hundreds of shorter expert models called by a scheduler, layered with a world model for outcome prediction and evolving into the Self-Evolving WAM (self-evolving world-action model), which folds each real-home execution back into training data. The official site describes the company as the first and only robot company with scenario-level, model-grade data from tens of millions of real home scenes, and reports more than 500 households served in Shanghai, over 50,000 hours of service and 96.8% user satisfaction, describing itself as among the first in the industry to complete validated consumer-paid commercialisation. Its product line is the wheeled home humanoid pair Futuring F1 and Futuring F2, and it has raised three rounds in half a year totalling close to RMB 1 billion.
