Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (Honda / 本田) is a major Japanese multinational mobility manufacturer, founded on 1948-09-24 by Soichiro Honda and Takeo Fujisawa, headquartered at 2-1-1 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan, and consistently ranked in the Fortune Global 500. Its business spans automobiles, motorcycles, power products and aircraft (HondaJet). In robotics, Honda started humanoid robot research in 1986 (E-series, then P-series) and unveiled ASIMO in November 2000, iterating through multiple generations (2005 version 130 cm; 2011 version 48 kg, 57 DOF, running up to 9 km/h with autonomous decision-making). ASIMO demonstrated bipedal walking, running, stair climbing, object manipulation and sign language; Honda announced the end of ASIMO new-model development in 2018 (development officially ended 2022-03-31).
