About

RobCo is a German industrial robotics company founded in 2020 by Roman Holzl, Paul Maroldt and Constantin Dresel, headquartered in Munich with production in Austin, Texas and a laboratory in San Francisco. Its stated purpose is to automate the ordinary so that humans can do the extraordinary, and it develops what it calls Autonomous Industrial Robotics to address labor shortages, cost pressure and workplace safety on the factory floor. It made its name with modular robot arms that snap together like building blocks, patented hardware that can be configured from one to eight degrees of freedom, and it sells them to midsize manufacturers through a Robotics-as-a-Service model with no upfront investment, so customers pay as they operate rather than buying a cell. The company describes its offer as triple A, affordable, adaptable and autonomous, and it pairs the hardware with software called RobFlow for programming, RobCo Studio and RobVision for perception, and an autonomy stack that includes path planning and Physical AI. It reports more than 300 robots already operating in real factories across Europe and the United States, millions of operating hours at hundreds of customers, cloud-based remote access, over-the-air updates and predictive maintenance, and a team of more than 200 people split between Munich and Austin. An XL module extends the range with a payload of up to 40 kilograms for metalworking, palletizing and bin picking. In April 2026 the company announced Autonomous Alfie, an autonomous industrial robot being developed for real-world deployments later that year, and said this followed a USD 100 million round used to advance its Physical AI roadmap, expand enterprise deployments and deepen its presence in the United States. Alfie is designed for variability rather than repetition: it is an autonomous mobile robot that moves between stations and then performs bimanual tasks, and RobCo positions it as a step toward Level 4 autonomy. By October 2026 the company had reached a valuation of one billion US dollars, doubling in nine months, with Sequoia and Lightspeed Venture Partners among its backers, and the United States had become its fastest-growing market with customers in more than a dozen states. RobCo publishes sales@rob.co as its commercial contact and a Munich telephone number, and its French and English sites carry the legal line RobCo Inc.
