Waseda University is a leading Japanese private university founded in 1882 in Tokyo. Its humanoid robot program (Prof. Ichiro Kato and successors) produced historic robots: the WABOT series (WABOT-1 1973, WABOT-2 1984 keyboard-playing), the Waseda Flutist robot (WF series, since the 1970s), and the emotion-expressing humanoid Kobian (2009).
