Xi'an Lan Chong Jushen Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd.
Xi'an Lan Chong Jushen Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (西安蓝虫具身智能科技有限公司), which trades as Blue Worm (蓝虫具身), is a Xi'an-based embodied intelligence company formed as a technology transfer spin-off from Xi'an Jiaotong University, with a core team drawn from that university's robotics doctoral group. It was registered on 27 December 2024 and the company itself describes its founding as 2025, with a core team of Xi'an Jiaotong University master's and doctoral graduates alongside experienced robotics engineers, and it reports 13 core robot patents. Its founder and CEO is Cong Yao, a serial entrepreneur with more than a decade in the robotics industry who is also the company's legal representative; registered capital is 900,000 yuan and the firm is a micro-enterprise with four insured employees on its 2025 filing. Blue Worm builds a full stack of its own platforms covering body, teleoperation, model and cloud. The 'Spring Cocoon' robot architecture platform covers mechanics, electronics, algorithms and embedded software and raises technology reuse between models to about 70 per cent, with supply chain reuse of about 80 per cent and research process reuse of about 90 per cent, and contains six core technologies including the Tiger Beetle chassis and Mantis electronics. The 'Quantum' teleoperation platform uses a proprietary communication protocol to hold latency at the 10 millisecond level over broadband, and combines vision, hearing and force feedback with mixed-reality visual display, a force-feedback handle and a bilateral receiving terminal, across five sensing dimensions - vision, hearing, speech, force and control - with VR support and a stereo 3D view reconstructed from two live high-definition feeds rather than flat video. The 'Wormhole' model platform runs the company's own BW-Brain, which carries the Wormhole foundation model series on a VLA plus DRL plus WAM framework trained on real, imitation and synthetic data to improve generalisation across tasks. The 'Hive' cloud platform links body, teleoperation and model, handling data upload, storage, cleaning, labelling, model training, inference testing and robot scheduling, and extends to cloud work and data trading. The four platforms form a continuous loop: robots collect data through teleoperation, the data is processed and used to train models, and the updated models are deployed back to the robots. The product line is the Mantis family of modular wheeled humanoid robots, spanning Standard, Pro and Ultra across different payload needs and scenarios. Mantis Pro, the previous generation, is up to 1.75 metres tall with an adjustable height, weighs 75 kg, has 24 degrees of freedom and a 10 kg end-effector payload per arm, runs for more than five hours, turns through 360 degrees in place and clears obstacles up to 5 cm; it took third place in the mixed-material sorting scenario at the first World Humanoid Robot Games in August 2025, finishing 28th overall among more than 280 teams from 16 countries. Mantis Standard, nicknamed Xiaobai, launched on 14 September 2026 at a starting price of 9,800 yuan: about 1.4 metres tall, about 35 kg, 22 degrees of freedom, up to 7 kg per arm and a three-hour battery, it cuts whole-robot weight, volume and part count by roughly 50 per cent against Mantis Pro to lower manufacturing cost and prepare for volume production, and its base, arms and head can be bought separately or combined. Mantis Ultra is in development with a planned 15 kg single-arm payload for high-end industrial work, complex commercial scenarios and bespoke research. Blue Worm deliberately chose wheels over legs because its target work is upper-limb dominated, where a wheeled base is more stable, more reliable and cheaper, and it sells the 'one brain, many forms' idea that a single BW-Brain drives the arm alone, the base alone, arm plus base, or the complete humanoid. Development tooling covers Isaac Sim and Genesis simulation, a ROS 2 interface, the BlueWorm SDK and compatibility with the LeRobot framework including the pi-0.5, ACT and SmolVLA models. Commercially the company has an annual supply agreement for several hundred units with a leading self-service coffee machine maker, has sold robots to Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University and China University of Mining and Technology for embodied intelligence data collection, and works with Shaanxi Tourism Group, Proton Automobile and Xingxun Intelligent on industrial and commercial deployments. It completed an angel round of several tens of millions of yuan led by Xi'an High-tech Industry Venture Capital in September 2026, earmarked mainly for a production line with a capacity of around a thousand units a year, along with product development, scenario expansion and team growth. The company follows a path it describes as from commercial to home, validating engineering and supply chain capability in small business scenarios before opening the home services market.
