MICO PLUS
MICO PLUS is one of the standardised configurations of Flexiv's MICO system, which the company introduces as force sensitive and embodied AI ready. It is not a single arm but a compact, lightweight dual-arm robot system built on the Flexiv Enlight platform, with a modular architecture the company says exists so the system scales rather than being rebuilt, and it is sold off the shelf in configurations meant to cover complex applications without customisation. The published figures are unusual for a dual-arm platform: 2 by 7 degrees of freedom, 5 kg of payload per arm and 10 kg across both, a 752 mm reach, a force sensing accuracy of 0.1 N, a pose repeatability of plus or minus 0.05 mm, an operating range of 0 to 45 degrees Celsius and control through the Flexiv RDK interface at 1 kHz in both real-time and non-real-time modes. It weighs 79 kg, which is where the named configurations differ: Armor is 55 kg, Core 53 kg and Plus 79 kg, while the arms, payload, reach and control figures are identical across all three, and the company's prose adds a fourth configuration called Ultra that has no column in the table. What the configuration names actually change is not documented, so the honest reading is that they differ in packaging rather than in capability. The point of the system is the force control: unlike robots that follow rigid preprogrammed paths, MICO senses contact at 0.1 N and adapts, which is what makes it useful for the delicate, contact-rich work that Flexiv built the company around, and the RDK interface at 1 kHz is what lets a developer run real-time control loops on it.
Industrial automation where force-controlled contact matters, including assembly, surface treatment and polishing, testing and inspection, and general manufacturing tasks that traditional position-controlled robots cannot handle; research and development work on embodied intelligence and contact-rich manipulation, since the system is described as embodied AI ready and exposes 1 kHz real-time control; and deployments that need a compact dual-arm system rather than a full-size humanoid.
