Chengdu Humanoid Robot Innovation Center Co., Ltd. was incorporated on 2024-04-11 and obtained its business licence the next day, becoming the first new-type R&D institution for humanoid robots in central and western China. It is the No.1 Origin Project of Sichuan Province's "No.1 Innovation Project", a Sichuan new-type R&D institution, the only lead enterprise (chain master) for humanoid robots in Chengdu's AI and robotics industrial chain, and a founding president unit of the Chengdu Robotics Industry Association. The centre is led by an academician team with founder Zhang Ruirui as its legal representative, and focuses on the humanoid robot "brain" and embodied intelligence, aiming at robots with genuine autonomous decision-making, understanding, reasoning and execution. Its official website states that it holds more than 30 internationally leading research results and takes part in drafting China's first national humanoid robot standards, including the "brain" (decision planning) standard, through the MIIT humanoid robot and embodied intelligence standardization committee. Its output includes Gongga-1 (KonKa), the first humanoid robot developed in Chengdu, unveiled on 2024-10-28 with full proprietary intellectual property and about 60% of components sourced locally; TangPa (model TP-01), a culture, tourism, sports and commerce humanoid robot globally unveiled on 2026-01-29; the panda humanoid Jinbao / J-PANDA (1.52 m, 21 DOF) released at the Chengdu Two Sessions in January 2026; and the world's first full-size heavy-load two-wheel-legged robot open-source platform released on 2026-02-28. On the algorithm side it released a diffusion-architecture humanoid task generation and execution system and China's first World Model-based robot task execution system (R-WMES). Commercially it completed a strategic financing round in May 2026 with a core-scenario subsidiary of Fortune Global 500 Shudao Investment Group, signed an order for 5,000 embodied-intelligence robots at PowerChina's supply-chain conference in June 2026, holds 51% of Sichuan Embodied Xiaobu Robot Technology, and in September 2026 tendered the system services procurement for its first humanoid robot manufacturing base.
